Dr. Simon Heil, Program Director of the Africa and Middle East division of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, sit down with AICGS Society, Culture & Politics Program Director Dr. Lily Gardner Feldman for a discussion on youth exchange between Germany and Israel and its impact on the "special relationship" between the two countries. Dr. Heil observed that the history between Germany and the Jewish State, especially the memory of the Holocaust, has continuously generated interestes in bilateral youth exchanges since WWII. She also suggests that the exchanges have experienced a increasingly shift of topics toward other issues, including Israel’s conflict with Palestine.
