Thousands of supporters of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro marched through central Caracas on Saturday.

The 'march against terrorism and hate' ended with a rally at the Miraflores Palace, the seat of government.

Maduro spoke to the crowd, denouncing terrorism and the perceived threat of US-led interventionism in Venezuela.

"Donald Trump and his gang of extremists, neofascists, every day, in the morning, in the afternoon, in the night, his only subject is Venezuela, Maduro, Venezuela, Maduro," he railed.

Saturday's demonstration followed the arrest of one of the top aides to Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido on charges of terrorism.

Guaido's chief of staff Robert Marrero is accused of planning "acts of sabotage" against officials.
