The acid reflux diet plan shown in the video provides those looking to treat their heartburn naturally through dietary changes. This video includes both trigger foods (which should be avoided) as well as foods that can help improve digestion and reduce acid reflux.

Foods to Eat:

- Papaya & Pineapple: These fruits contain papain and bromelain, respectively. These are plant enzymes known as proteases. The function of a protease is to help break down protein. If you consume these enzymes at the same time as a meal, these enzymes will go to work on digesting food proteins.

- Lean proteins - Consuming protein stimulates the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) to contract. This is the band of muscle at the juncture of the esophagus and stomach that squeezes to keep food locked in the stomach. Acid reflux occurs when this muscle fails to contract properly.

- Fiber - A high fiber diet is directly correlated with less esophageal damage. Whether the fibrous diet helps reduce acid reflux directly or it offers some kind of protective effective outside of reducing reflux directly has yet to be determined. To recap, a good diet plan includes a lot of fruits and vegetables of all sorts (for fiber), lean meats like chicken breast, and pineapple or papaya as "dessert" to help your body digest a big meal.
