Thomas M. Tarasoff ('71)

Also inducted was Thomas M. Tarasoff, a 1971 NMSU graduate with a degree in accounting.

Tarasoff is general manager for national accounts with the Hewlett-Packard Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona. Tarasoff joined Hewlett-Packard in 1972 as an order coordinator in the Las Cruces sales office. He was soon promoted to office manager and then to sales representative out of the Denver office.

He became district sales manager in 1980, area manager in 1982 and regional manager in 1983.

He is recognized as one of the leaders in the corporation in the hiring and promotion of women and minorities.

A.D. Bowen ('48)

Bowen is a 1948 graduate of Las Cruces High School. He graduated from NMSU in 1953 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

He began his career as a petroleum geologist with the General Western Petroleum Company, and later founded and ran a number of companies including the D-B Drilling Corporation, Universal Logging, the Moore Trucking Company, Express Air Foundation Drilling, and E.C. Tool and Supply.

He is one of the founders of Chaparral Airlines, a regional airline founded by Abilene businessmen to provide air service between Abilene, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Lubbock, Midland and San Antonio.

He was also a member of the board of directors of Metro Airlines, an airline holding company which operated several regional airlines in the U.S. and the Caribbean including U.S. Air Express, Eastern Express, TWA Regional and Lakeway Airlines.

When Chaparral was purchased by American Airlines, he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Eagle Airlines. Bowen is a former member of the Abilene City Council and served the city as Mayor Pro Temp for three years.
