Filmmaker Nic Roeg hired pop singer-composer Donaggio ("You Don't Have to Say You Love Me / Io Che Non Vivo") to write his first film score for a very dark and troubling tale of a grieving man restoring a mosaic of Christ's face in a decaying Venetian church while unconsciously mis-using space and time to chase down his own guilt in the reflection of his drowned daughter's red raincoat.

Aside from its unusual grasp of psychology, E.S.P., and physics, "Don't Look Now" is also an unusual portrait of marital intimacy that stands out like a flower amongst most cookie-cutter modern films.

The music fit like a glove, drenched the film in dread and tenderness, and established Donaggio as heir-apparent to the romantic stylings of film composer Bernard Herrmann.
