For decades, the Rohingya have routinely suffered abuses by the Burmese army, including extrajudicial killings, forced labor, land confiscation, and restricted freedom of movement. Arakan people have also faced human rights violations by the army.

A total of 62 people had been killed and dozens wounded between June 8 and 19 in the sectarian unrest, Rakhine state spokesman Win Myaing said Thursday.

In Rakhine, thousands of homes have been burned down, and tens of thousands people displaced by the unrest.

Bangladesh has turned back more than 2,000 Rohingyas who tried to enter the country after the deadly violence between Rohingyas and ethnic Rakhine Buddhists erupted this month in neighbouring Myanmar.

Nearly 1000 Rohingyas including elder, women and children were killed , and more than 50 villages were burnt down. Many were taken by security authorities to some places which no one knows. Most of the young men run to the jungles and hide themselves. There are nearly 150, 000 internal displaced person and some crossed over the border to Bangladesh.
