Mariam (name changed) lost her husband when the conflict began in Syria and has been raising her four children on her own for the past eight years. Like thousands of women who have lost a father, son, brother or husband, Mariam became the sole breadwinner and caregiver of her family. She now works on a farm to provide for her family and has had to take her children out of school. Like Mariam, millions of Syrian women need support in adapting to their new roles, as they show great courage and resilience in providing and caring for their families. Supporting and empowering them is more important than ever.
