Planned Parenthood takes more and more tax dollars to do fewer services for fewer people at fewer locations . . . except when it comes to abortion.
Over the last 10 years, taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood skyrocketed from $336 million in 2006 to $543 million in 2016. During that same period, Planned Parenthood’s annual clientele dropped by 23%.
Planned Parenthood also closed 260 facilities, a third of their locations.
Birth Control dropped 32%
Breast Exams dropped 62%
Pap Tests dropped 74%
Cancer Screenings dropped 67%
But in one significant area, abortion, Planned Parenthood’s activities increased—by 11%. Planned Parenthood’s marketshare of abortions in the United States also increased from 21% in 2004 to 35% in 2014. This increase in annual abortions and abortion marketshare has taken place while the national abortion rate continues to drop.
The data shows Planned Parenthood does less than 2% of US breast exams, about 1% of Pap tests, and less than 2% of women’s cancer screenings.
