This run had a very delayed start (about 90 minutes late) due to a Metro North 3-loco equipment detour heading westbound to Campbell Hall, NY. Finally rolling around10:45am, the climb from Sparta toward beaver Lake was very slow going due to slippery black rails, leaves and falling snow. Note the 2nd and 3rd speeder were connected to assist each other on the climb. All stopped to loads rocks as ballast and the lead unit was actually sanding the rails as it went. I really have to get one of these! :)

They got as far as Snufftown Rd in Stockholm before they decided to abort the trip, turn around and head back to Sparta Junction. I caught them at the Sparta Main St crossing, and again at the Rt.15 crossing just up the road. They were then switched to an industrial siding to await the passing of the eastbound Metro North detour.

En route to act as flagman at the Limecrest Rd crossing, the trip's coordinator, Chris, lost the fight to keep his personal car on the road and went head-on into a telephone pole. He seemed to be ok, complaining only that his wrists hurt. Police responded and I left to await the detour job at Edison Rd. in Ogdensburg.
