Thursday Customs has designed the ultimate accessory for LSDJ users who wish to bring their productions and compositions to the next level. The USB Boy is a MIDI-sync box that operates over USB to interface with music software on the Gameboy as well as any computer-side software capable of exchanging MIDI data.

Here I demonstrate its various functions in Ableton Live and they can be replicated in most any other DAW: LSDJ Slave sync, Master Sync, Keyboard sync, Map Sync, and MIDI out sync, as well as mGB. (Nanoloop is compatible but I did not think to download and flash the demo ROM to demonstrate with.)

The USB Boy retails for $80 and can be acquired through Thursday Customs or Kitsch-bent. White PCB units will be sold by Thursday Customs, the black PCB by Kitsch-bent, do note that the purple version is prototype-only and is functionally identical to the final product. The USB Boy is a hardware creation by Thursday Customs based on code ported to the teensy 2.0 by noizeinabox which was based upon trash80's arduinoboy code.

For details on MIDI commands, etc, please check the arduinoboy page which is linked below.
