http://therovingroninreport.blogspot.... Nebuta Matsuri is one the three biggest festivals in Tohoku, the northern region of Japan. In Aomori City they built giant floats of bamboo and washi (harden Japanese paper) which depicts scenes of Japanese and Chinese history and legends.
It's one of my favorite festivals and this was my fourth time to see it. This was the last day of my five-day festival journey through Aomori Prefecture last summer. I had to split early unfortunately to catch a night bus - which I missed and ended up sleeping on a bench and taking the shinkansen back.
