In this exclusive snippet of an Animation Mentor lecture, Industrial Light & Magic animator Charles Alleneck explains transitions. Alleneck defines transitions as switching from an inactive to active state, anticipations, overshoots, slow-ins and slow-outs. The way a transition is animated will influence the overall feeling of the shot, whether the goal for the shot is to look more realistic or more stylized.
