Theo Van Gogh writes about Vincent being a Martyr.

"It is very probably that I shall have to suffer a great deal yet. And
to tell the honest truth, this does not suit me at all, for under no
circumstances do I long for a martyr's career. For I have always
sought something different from heroism, which I do not have, which I certainly admire in others, but which, I tell you again, I consider
neither my duty nor my ideal."
Vincent van Gogh
Letter W11
30 April 1889

Drawing, Wheat Field With Cypresses
Saint-Remy-June 1889

This is a Christ like figure, entangled against a tree, surrounded by branches.

Notice the protruding forehead, the white tears flowing from Vincent's eye.

Notice Vincent's chest and upper arm

Notice Vincent's left hand and upper wrist area

Notice Vincent's left leg

Below the branch, notice his knee and muscular leg, Vincent walked a lot.

His shoulder, a "fluffy beard" which reminds me of his caring friend, Joseph Roulin, the Postman.
