I am the Director of Volunteer Services at Council on Aging. I wanted to tell you about some of the opportunities that we have for volunteering for Council on Aging. We are very well-known for our Meals on Wheels program. We do have opportunities in the Rohnert Park area which is located at the Rohnert Park Senior Center. Our main office is out of Santa Rosa, Santa Rosa Senior Center. We have other types of volunteer positions besides Meals on Wheels. We offer day programs in Sebastapol, Healdsburg and the town of Sonoma. We also have congregate dining sights in almost every senior center in Sonoma County with the exception of Petaluma. We have a new marketing director, Amy Craft, who is looking for a intern for marketing. You must be very computer literate.

The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) advances community-based programs on the Sonoma State University campus. CCE supports faculty in developing community-based teaching that integrates academic theory with community service and research that is inclusive of community partners and students to address local problems. By incorporating these projects into the curriculum, we teach students to be active citizens and that the theories taught in the classroom do apply to real-world issues.
