ATDHE.net is a website that allows people to watch TV online for free. ATDHE.net specializes particularly in live sports, but also features general programming from networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX. The website has come under fire for copyright restrictions it may be violating in operating the service.

On February 1, 2011, the ATDHE.net domain was reportedly shut down by the Department of Homeland Security.  Visitors to the site's homepage were greeted by a message informing them that the domain "has been seized by ICE - Homeland Security Investigations."  According to the Department of Homeland Security's official website, ICE is the "principal investigative arm" of the agency. The website also posted information on its Twitter account, telling followers that ATDHE would be moving to a new domain and asking them to bookmark a specific IP address in the meantime.

Within a few hours, a new website, ATDHE.tv, was up and reportedly running.  ATDHE again Tweeted information to followers, informing them that "we are back online" and asking them to retweet the new URL.

According to CrunchGear, other sports streaming sites were being taken down on February 1, as well, including the Spanish website Roja Directa, which offers similar services as ATDHE.net.  The site Channelsurfing.net was also reportedly taken down, though it was back up on a new URL which uses an .eu suffix.  Some reports speculated that the timing of the takedowns coincides with the upcoming Super Bowl, which some might want to watch online.

ATDHE.net says its service is free and funded by ad revenue from "outside ad companies" who pay "to display ads" on the site.  In it's Terms of Service, ATDHE specifies that it does not host videos on the website, adding that all videos found on the site are available elsewhere on the Internet.  The company urges any copyright owner who is concerned to "direct all copyright infringement issues to the companies that host" the video files, giving several examples, including Justin.tv and Ustream.tv.
