"La Valse d'Amélie" (from Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain film) makes perfect background music for short story writing. Its form and use of instruments so clearly follow the five steps taken when story writing (http://www.hrsbstaff.ednet.ns.ca/engr...).

Play the tune to the students who listen to it with their eyes closed. Play the tune again, making pause after each distinct section, allowing the students to write down what they 'see' in their heads. When they finish their stories, they read them aloud expressively, following the music dynamics. They illustrate the stories by drawing the scenes or downloading images from the net.
