Type In a Minute: Learn about Kerning Type in One Minute
I'm Joseph Caserto, a graphic designer and educator. In graphic design, the art of working with letterforms is called typography, or type for short. A design that uses type well shows that the designer is an experienced professional. Fonts in computer software programs, like Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, needs a lot of adjusting like kerning, which is adjusting the spacing between individual glyphs, to look good and be legible. This spacing varies greatly between fonts In the age of desktop publishing, so it's important that designers and computer graphics producers make their type as clean as possible, so readers can access the content.
This tutorial in my Type in a Minute series, shows why that's important, and will give students and professionals studying graphic design, printing, and publishing, a clear understanding of kerning, in about 60 seconds.
