In this hard fought final on red clay in West Berlin from 1985 between Chris Evert & Steffi Graf, we see a few more errors than normal from both players, along with some nail-biting points of extreme angles, providing an interesting sneak-peak into the future of a classic rivalry ~ showing how early in their meetings the strategic pattern of play, as well as the nervous tension, was already set between these two legends of the sport. Top seeded Evert wins 6-4 7-5 but not without stiff resistance from the next generation's #1. (Of historical note, Chris regained the #1 ranking in the world herself after this tournament by beating Martina Navratilova in the 1985 French final.)
