On Tuesday, August 30, 2016, the New York State Gaming Commission hosted a meeting focused on the issue of retired racehorses, featuring: • A presentation and discussion of the Commission’s ongoing study to locate New York-bred Thoroughbreds that have not raced since 2012; • Updates and recent developments from industry leaders including The New York Racing Association, Inc., the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) and several TAA-accredited organizations working in the state; • The debut of a Commission-produced film highlighting the importance of responsible aftercare in New York State and discussing the many viable options for retired racehorses
