Laura Inés Pollán Toledo died on October 14, 2011 at 7:50pm from respiratory arrest at the age of 63. She was born in 1948. She was also one of the founders of the Ladies in White who battled for the release of her husband Hector Maseda. An independent journalist sentenced to 20 years in prison in March of 2003. Eight hard years later they had obtained freedom for the 75 arrested in March of 2003. Now in 2011 tne week after she had fallen suddenly ill from a respiratory infection compounded with dengue fever and already existing condition as a diabetic. On that same night at La Ermita de la Caridad in Coconut Grove, FL a special service was held for the late founder of the Ladies in White.
