In July 2009, cameras were placed in the hands of two men and two women from Melandi village in Bangladesh. Selected by their own community, the group was tasked with making a documentary film, on a topic of their choosing.
The idea to make the participatory film came from the WorldFish Center, but the rest was up to the video team.
The film was intended to let the people of Melandi speak for themselves, as the main participants in a fish culture project that began in 2007. The project, 'community-based fish culture in seasonal floodplains' involves the people of Melandi, local landowners and the local fisheries agency.
