40 percent of food produced in the US goes uneaten. FoodRev, an SF non-profit, connects volunteer drivers to those in need in order to allocate uneaten food. Don Dini, AI and automation advisor to FoodRev, talks about how reinforcement learning and planning was applied to optimize matching of FoodRev donors, volunteer drivers, pickup routes, and receiving agencies.

The Data Science Forum is a meetup and discussion for experienced data science practitioners and data engineers. We meet at HVF Labs, Max Levchin’s startup studio and innovation laboratory.

Recorded at HVF Labs, November 15, 2016
