In this video I compare the focal lengths of 35mm 50mm and 85mm lenses to check the distortion in the close up portrait headshot.

If you're doing general portraits then 50mm 1.8 lens would be great as it's very versatile. 85mm 1.8 is a recommended if you're doing close up headshots in a studio or outdoors and 35mm is great for general photography. It's most popular for video and street photography.
