While these were always my favorite SNL sketches of all time, I must admit that I hadn’t actually seen all of them before. Recall my earlier comment on how hard these are to find on Youtube. So one fateful day back in February I came across this particular one for the first time. And as soon as Anne Heche started talking, the casting exploded in my mind and I had no choice but to create these videos.
How could I use anyone other than Luna for Anne? From her moon language, to her claims not to be crazy anymore, right up to how she wants to be called CELESTIA OF ALL THINGS! I’m pretty sure I’ve never had a more perfect casting in my entire life. In comparison, Chris Tucker’s choice is almost boring. His casting went through a few different options before I landed on one, including Spike who never actually managed to get a part in these videos. But the deciding factor was when I determined that Chris’s performance in this demanded the loudest and most annoying pony to be around; therefore Trixie won out.
We’ve passed the halfway point, plenty still to go!
“Alright, you got five cents. You probably want to spin again. Looking for ninety-five… anyone you want to say hi to?”
Yes, Drew, I want to say hi to all my family in the audience! My fans, whom I’d be nothing without! And My Little Pony and Saturday Night Live, which I do not own!
“And… you got another nickel. Ten cents isn’t going to do it. Thanks for playing!”
