Dr Chamika Senanyake from the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine in Sri Lanka and Fellow at the University of Melbourne Data for Health Initiative explains his work integrating Smart Verbal Autopsy (SmartVA) and DHIS-2 in Sri Lanka.
DHIS-2 is a free and open-source platform, which is designed for collection, analysis, and visualisation and dissemination of public health data. Verbal autopsy is a method of ascertaining the cause of death, which happens outside the hospital or in the community, when there is no doctor there for diagnosis.
