Extraction of Myristicin

In its freshly-ground (from whole nutmegs) form, nutmeg contains Myristicin, a monoamine oxides' inhibitor and psychoactive substance. Myristicin poisoning can induce convulsions, palpitations, nausea, eventual dehydration, and generalized body pain. It is also reputed to be a strong deliriant.
