Joan Soriano and I visited Haitian composer Felix Cumbe in February of 2007. We were looking for a song for Joan's new album (El Duque de la Bachata). When we arrived, Cumbe broke out with La Mamandela - a beautifully poetic song which he was in the midst of the composing. With Cumbe's blessing, Joan recorded the song several months later. This video is from the February meeting.
