Next up is the clock tower. I assume there is a clock at least I don't remember seeing one when I think about it. When there is a clock tower level in a video game, you can bet your ass that it is not going to be fun....Castlevania. I run up the steps as fast as I can dodging enemies. These enemies rarely grab me and are hardly a problem. Making it to the door and dodging the catapults across the way requires some fast door entering. I can't waste a second finding the door, or I risk getting hit by the flaming rock or flinching and waste some time. I navigate my way up to the tower as quick as I can while shooting the blocks of wood so I can turn the crank. After having done that I struggle to escape dodging the professional accuracy of the crossbow snipers and the cultist group at the bottom level. As you can see by the video I barely made it. The next section is the bridge, shield zealots, and the rocket launcher guy. I figured the best course of action after such a tricky clock tower section is to take my time and spend ten seconds to dispatch all three shield baddies. I miss one of the kill shots but improvise to get by. I repeat and make it into the room with the garradors. For whatever the reason I had forgotten that a rocket launcher doesn't kill the Garrador on the right. It made life difficult for me having to focus a rifle shot on the plaga embedded in his back while I have cultists moving towards me. It was very tough, but I made it through and on to the traitor's pit. This is an important moment because I finally acquire the Striker and the ability to do the Ditman glitch which is the best and worst thing that could happen. It makes me faster but requires greater skill in my running ability. The next section I use ditman to get moving and eventually run into Verdigo. This boss is bad. The first time I played this game on Normal I couldn't believe how much ammo I used against him. He's tough and intimidating with his ceiling attacks and impossible to avoid as he stalks you. It was so satisfying to know he is actually quite easy with the rocket launcher. Freeze and bag, that's it. I use ditman after Verdigo and head for the elevator. My overall time starts to slip but I am still even with T. Brights normal run from not too long ago. So far, so good.
