This week, advocates of transparency, got some more bad news. We told you that the Center for Constitutional Rights had filed a petition requesting that the Army Court of Criminal Appeals order the Judge in court martial of Bradley Manning to grant the public and the press more access. This week however, the petitioners got an answer from the court of appeals. And that answer, was a simple no. The farther away we get from fundamental values instilled in the constitution, and the farther we get from having an informed public, that can check the powers that be. We should expect this in every trial and every court proceeding.
