Mohabbat ke dhokay mein koii na aaye
Ye dil ko jalaaye, sataaye, dukhaaye
(Do not believe in claims of 'love', 'friendship' or 'kindness'
As often people experience tears, betrayel and heartache.)

Chingaari koi bhardk.e to saavan use bujhaaye
(If a spark flares, then monsoon rain extinguishes it ;)

Saawan jo agan lagaaye use kaun bujhaaye
(But if the monsoon lights a fire, who can put it out?)

Patjhar jo baagh ujaard.e voh baagh bahaar khilaaye
(If the autumn ruins a blooming garden, the spring will bring it back to life; )

Jo baagh bahaar mein ujjare usey kaun khilaaye
(But if that garden is plundered in the springtime, who can make it bloom?)

Hum sey mat puuchho kaise mandir tuuta sapno.n ka
(Don't ask me how the temple of dreams got demolished!)

Logo.n ki baat nahin hai yeh qissa hai apno.n ka
(This deed has not been committed by anybody; Mis-treated by our own!)

Koi dushman Thaes lagaaye to miit jiya behlaaye
(If a foe strikes you a blow, your friend will cheer your heart; )

Munmiit jo ghaaov lagaaye usey kaun mitaaye
(If a loved one inflicts a blow, who will assist you recover from it?)

Naa jaaney kiya ho jaata jaane hum kya kar jaatey
(Who knows what had happened! who knows what I would do!)

Piitay hain toe zinda hain na peetey toe mar jaatey
(Heart-broken, I resort to drinking to survive; Otherwise I would have perished.)

Duniya jo pyaasa rakkhe to madiraa pyaas bujhaaye
(If the world does'nt quenches thirst for love & comfort, then wine is there for the victims.)

Madiraa jo pyaas lagaaye use kaun bujhaaye
(But if the wine fails to be the last resort, who else can soothe & satisfy?)

Maana tuufaan ke aagay nahin chalta zor kisi ka
(I agree in the face of a storm, no body can withstand its force.)

Maujon ka dosh nahin hai yeh dosh hai aur kisi ka
(But one can't blame the tidal waves; the fault lies else where.)

Manjhdhaar mein naiyya doley to maanjhi paar lagaaye
(Amid furious mid-stream a boat rocks, then the sailor strives to cast it ashore.)

Maanjhii jo naaov duuboye usey kaun bachaaye
(But boats that are intentionally sunk by sailors, who can protect or save?)
