Title: Freedom and Resistance Skaters: Kayla Grayson, Garrett Kling, Jodi Haller Music: "Beginnings" by Josh Kramer
Thank you to Gail Johnson for decorating the cords! And to Lisa Speckhard (2014 olympic champion in shoe skating) and Florence Krieger for filming.
The cords represent non-conformity. Each cord is trying to break free from the rigid structure of society (represented through the skaters dressed in black). In the beginning of the program, you will notice the cords peaking through, finding initial escape. Towards the middle, the cords relish in their moment of freedom. In the ending however, the cords are brought back into the confinement of the black, not being able to withstand its stronghold.
