Deep Purple (Parrish-De Rose) by Nino Tempo & April Stevens

Composed as an instrumental in 1934 (see the Paul Whiteman recording on this channel), “Deep Purple” was later given lyrics and spent seven weeks atop “Your Hit Parade” in 1939. The Larry Clinton version (also posted) was that year’s most popular version.
