Wudang sword. Dan Swordplay, or Wudang Dan School Swordplay, is said to have been created by Zhang-Sanfeng, the founder of Wudang martial art. Zhang-Songxi, Wudang Taoist of the Ming Dynasty, had spread this swordplay in Siming Mountain, Zhejiang Province, so it is also named Siming Swordplay.
Wudang Dan Swordplay contains two kinds of swordplay: single man exercising and double men exercising. The single men exercising includes the sky, the earth, and the man three levels swordplay, which mainly consists of thirteen patterns of changes, such as taking out, taking away, lifting, feeding away, attacking, thrusting, pointing, straight blow, stirring, chopping and so on. When exercising, the man should act in a Taiji waist, eight -diagram paces, turn around like rolling pearls in a plate and walk like rolling wheels. The swordplay is everlasting, light, elegant, as soft as floating cloud and flowing water, as light as a swallow flying through the forest.
Wudang Dan Swordplay, alternating with the real and feint acts, changing between Yin and Yang, displays the stage of Taoist elegance and quietness.
