The Blue Flame Quintet is a percussion quartet with marimba soloist. Written in 2005 and revised in 2014, The Blue Flame Quintet was commissioned by the Lassiter High School Percussion Ensemble, Michael Lynch Director, and premiered at the 2005 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago with Michael Burritt as soloist.

In the process of writing Blue Flame, I was inspired by the thought of playing with these wonderfully young and enthusiastic musicians. I couldn't help but remember my early days as a drummer and my first rock band, "The Blue Flame". We named the band after the rocket car that broke the land speed record in 1970.
