In this video, the Victorian Dance Ensemble demonstrates several short versions of Civil War era dances. It was filmed in the rotunda of the Pennsylvania Capitol building in Harrisburg, Pa. The music is played by the Fort Delaware Cornet Band. The dances include Soldier’s Joy, Lancer’s Quadrille Third Figure, German Waltz, Swedish Dance and Spanish Waltz.

There are also brief instructional segments showing a Ladies Chain and the Lancer’s Quadrille First Figure. The instructional portion was filmed at the Cumberland County Historical Society in Carlisle, Pa.
