the US war on drugs has made the situation far worse….the cartels and traffickers love that drugs are illegal…move the drug issue to the medical field, not the criminal justice system...

By 2001, heroin availability in the U.S. had almost dried up. The Taliban, no matter what you think of them, had virtually eliminated poppy fields in Afghanistan, the worlds largest producer of heroin.. That all changed when America invaded and the CIA saw a way to make tremendous amounts of money. Today, heroin has once again flooded the streets of America. CIA profits are estimated at $50 billion a year and they not only use U.S. military aircraft to smuggle herion into the country, but also use U.S. ground troops to guard poppy fields in Afghanistan.

When heroin was legal prescription drug in Finland the prices were low: in 1940 the price of package of hundred 5 mg heroin pills was 39 FM (= 70 US cents or 12 dollar in 2016 currency). After WW2 when prescription heroin using was record high in Finland prices were even much lower.

I can't believe there was a "delay" in getting her freaking Methadone! All addicts and alcoholics, well not all, the vast majority of them, even when they're finally ready to get help, experience an intense feeling of sheer TERROR at the thought of abstaining from whatever their drug of choice is, and Heroin happens to be the most frightening one of all, and they actually have the nerve to facilitate a "delay" in her damn Methadone?! No wonder she's avoided treatment for so long, her worst exact fears came true THE ONE TIME she finally made it to detox, what a travesty!
