Voices of the Earth, a Project of the Earth Medicine Alliance (http://www.earthmedicine.org), speaks with Clan Mother Hua Anwa, a Metis Elder (teacher of mixed Mayan and Cherokee descent) and adopted Chumash who has been leading ceremony on the Central Coast of California for 30 years. She is the spiritual leader of the Church of Empowerment, a Native American based non-profit that offers ceremonies, teachings and community building. Each year, Hua leads a ceremony for women called the Long Dance, as well as Full Moon circles and other ceremonies in the Arroyo Grande area. In addition, Hua also offers classes, teachings, healings and counseling to a wide variety of audiences, individuals and her extended community.
