(In english below). Wheel of life Lantern. T. Ross. Gran Bretanya, vers 1871
Sheel of Life Lantern Slide. T. Ross. Great Britain, ca. 1871
Invented by T. Ross in 1871, this was a glass plate for the animated projection of drawings with a magic lantern based on the theory of persistence of vision. It had two discs, one made of brass with slot (working as a form shutter) and the other made out of transparent glass with sixteen painted images breaking down a mouvement. The twoo disks were set one againts the other on the same axis. By means of a system of strings and gears the two disks turned in opposite directions to produce the desired effect.
