With exclusive footage of and interviews with members of the royal family; and in particular the Maharaja himself; director Anu Malhotra tells the story of "the boy who-would-be-king", enthroned at age 4, his trials and tribulations over the tumultuous years of historical change, and of his quest to be a "Modern Maharaja".

This extravagant docu-feature was filmed over a year and showcases the life and lifestyle of the Gaj Singh II, along with Jodhpur's incredible living traditions, vibrant festivals, ceremonial pageantry and its regal splendor.

The Royal Durbar -- which celebrates the 50th year of his coronation - a glittering historical occasion.

Akha Teej Durbar- when the Rathore's sip saffron water (formerly opium), from their Maharaja's palm.

Dusshera Durbar- where ties with the Rathore clan are renewed with the anointing of swords, by the Maharaja.

Birthday Celebrations- formal durbars, royal processions and ritual greetings by women, dressed in their traditional best.

A glamorous royal lifestyle- polo, vintage cars, courtly dance performances, and exclusive footage from the "Raj" era of princely India.
