A marionette (string operated puppet) of John Steed from The Avengers inspired by the Thunderbirds puppets. A full write up is available here: http://www.asciimation.co.nz/bb/2013/...

Electronics in his head move his eyes and mouth and he speaks, saying many interesting Steedisms. His eyes and speech are controlled by a remote control. A tiny version of his remote is built into a watch as well. He also has his own photograph signed by the real Steed, Patrick Macnee.

Don't get to close to him though, he really doesn't like that!

The speech is controlled by an Arduino and an Adafruit Waveshield to store/play the audio. New samples can be added to him at any time by adding them to the SD card.

He is made from fibreglass and wood. The hands are Fimo type modelling plastic. The hair is fake fur and the hat is black painted fibreglass. All his clothes were hand sewn. The joints are made with small screw eyes joined together with Chicago screw binding posts. The eyes were made from hand painted ping pong ball sections and are controlled by a micro servo in the head. A solenoid that lives in the body control the mouth.
