Battle Capacity (or CAPacity) is a fighting game based off of Smogon's "Create-A-Pokémon" community creations, maintained by "Cartoons!", developed with the FM2K/FM2nd engine, and with music provided by Charlie Twitch. Unlike many games made with the FM2K engine, it is not Japanese and can be enjoyed by English speakers (few exist due to FM95/FM2k being Japanese in origin, though translations and guides exist). It features wonderful sprites and animations with a cartoony look; characters are somewhat reminiscent to Pokemon in design, and the soundtrack is simple and appropriate for the theme of the game.

The game takes a rather basic, classic approach to battling compared to most of today's fighters. Characters have a variety of basic attacks, special attacks, upgradable special attacks, one super move, and a special ability unique to each character (such as taunting, resting, etc.). There is no air-blocking, characters have different parameters (attack, speed, defense, etc.), and most evasive/counter abilities are character-specific, which actually enhances the experience as you really need to know your characters and opponents well and each character feels different.

The only things I've noticed right away are some minor typos, timing for some combinations are strict, and the stages change between rounds (which is fine, though I'm not sure if some characters or background elements are supposed to disappear at random). Battle Capacity is a fun, well-rounded indie game that relies more on skill and your ability to zone and understand your characters than mere button-mashing, complex gameplay mechanics or intricate combo strings (though you can do extremely cheap combos, you're unlikely to ever pull them off in a real match). You can find out more about the game as well as download it at:

Additionally, you can download the soundtrack (free of charge) at Charlie Twicth's website at:

This is a video showing some of the game in action. We use Skulloton, one of the most combo-savvy characters. Enjoy.
