A child has died, one man suffered 80% burns and there are fears that at least one other person is trapped inside their home following a large explosion in Oldham. One further person is unaccounted for and a search and rescue operation is being carried out by emergency services after the blast which reduced three terrace houses in Shaw to rubble.

According to locals, the man seriously injured is named Anthony Williamson and lives at one of the rented properties with his partner, mother-of-six Tanya Williamson. Hammad Iltaf, whose father is the couple's landlord, said Mr Williamson was at the property with the couple's youngest child.

A number of terraced properties were ripped apart after a suspected gas explosion in the Shaw area, shortly after 11.15am on Tuesday.
