Funny the expression: "fall asleep" I think one "rises asleep," flying up into some cloud of a thought one composes miles above the sleeping head In sleep I pick apart pictures in my mind, review a meeting with an old friend, dissect a childhood memory or try to finish a race I got stuck in the middle of on Tuesday
If I have fallen, I do not know, but falling would mean I had weight, even more than that of a bed Beds are nice solid things to rise out of And if one likes the softness of sheets, one can carry that feeling into the air, float adrift in the comfort of organic cotton, taking it further into an universe of fluff where flying is natural
But then there is falling asleep and that is the game one learns to play as one digs the furrows of a lifetime, the heavy clods one carries, the clumps of unresolved hurts Still I prefer to drop these pieces and rise up into the whimsical counterfeit of dream
