Here are the highlights of the Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears game from Soldier Field in Week One of the 2010 Season. This is the feed from the NFL Network. No copyright infringement is intended. This will not be used in any marketable or profitable way. This is simply a fan putting this video on youtube for other fans so they can see the controversial call that lead to a Bears win and a Lions loss. For me, it's pretty simple, Calvin Johnson caught the ball, then his left knee, left hand, butt, and left elbow hit the ground before the ball touched the ground. He clearly has possession, and if you watch very closely, Calvin is pushing himself back up with his left hand to celebrate, also before the ball touches the ground. Because of the position Calvin was in, he could not spike the ball the way he could if he was standing on both feet. However, that looked very clear that was what he was trying to do, having only one hand on the ball. When Calvin loses control of the ball, it is after he is in his second motion(celebrating). It is clearly a blatantly missed call. Coach Schwartz and the players are not going to say the referee missed the call because the sport then would begin to lose integrity. But for any fan, analyst, radio personality, television personality, and anyone else, this clearly is a missed call and it's our responsibility to speak against it. All Comments, for or against, are appreciated.
