This video will show you how to start iBook Author with a template.
First double click on the iBook Author icon on your desktop or in your applications folder.
Choose any textbook template from the template chooser.
For example click "Botany" then click "Choose" in the bottom right hand corner of the window.
Delete all text and pictures from the first page called "Chapter 1 Untitled" by clicking on each feature then hitting the delete key on your keyboard or right clicking and scrolling down to "delete".
You may have to unlock certain features on the page, like specific lines, before deleting them.
To unlock a feature on the page that won't delete, click on the feature then go to "Arrange" on the iBooks Author tool bar at the top of the desktop and scroll down to "unlock".
Once you have unlocked the feature you will be able to delete it.
Continue deleting until you have a blank canvas to work from.
You can do the same and delete everything from the next two pages that follow, or you can simply delete both pages as a whole.
To delete both pages as a whole, click on them (so that the two pages are highlighted with a yellow line around them), then right click and scroll down to the option, "delete section".
From there you can add blank pages as you wish by clicking on the "Insert" option on the toolbar on the top, clicking on "pages" (which is the first option) then scrolling down to "pages" (past chapter and section) and choosing the "blank page" to insert.
That is how you start iBook Author with a template.
