A typical gathering in a Hawaiian household - ono grindz and Kanikapila 'till the wee early hours of the morning. haha ooxxooXoXXx ________________________________________________________ ** I took down most of the annotations and decided to move them here. Didn't want to distract you from listening to his lovely voice!
Self-taught Ukulele at the age of 8.
Self-taught the Hawaiian language at 10 yrs old
He's Hapa: Black and White but his heart is 100% Hawaiian By listening to Genoa Keawe, Kamele, taught himself how to sing falsetto. Thus he was able to sing older Hawaiian songs such as the one he is singing in this video.
His first-ever live performance was in 2005 for San Francisco's Aloha Festival where he both sang and played the ukulele to a crowd of 40,000 people. For someone who was just doing what he loved with no professional training, he was a crowd favorite. Though, he was too nervous to even notice. Believe it or not, he's very shy.
Some of Kamele's musical inspirations are: Mo-town, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Maxwell, Old Traditional Hawaiian Music.
