Django Reinhardt, (1910-1943), nació en Bélgica en el seno de una familia gitana y fue el primer músico de jazz europeo de aceptación universal, y también el más grande hasta ahora. Analfabeto, autodidacta, incapaz de escribir una sola nota o de leer una partitura, era también un hombre con poca disciplina para el estudio, jugador empedernido y juerguista a más no poder. Django Reinhardt, no obstante fue un músico extraordinario, lleno de inventiva y creatividad y supo adaptar la música que venía de América a sus habilidades con la guitarra, a pesar de que en una de ellas, le faltaban dos dedos, percance este ocurrido cuando durmiendo se declaró un pequeño incendio que lo tuvo hospitalizado mas de un año y que facilitó su acercamiento al jazz. Uno de sus hermanos le llevó al hospital una guitarra y desde entonces cambió el banjo por ésta que ya no dejó hasta el final de sus días, teniendo que inventar una nueva técnica de digitación acorde a sus facultades físicas mermadas. Django Reinhardt, Fue una referencia indiscutible e indispensable no solo para su generación sino para todos los guitarristas de jazz posteriores.

Django Reinhardt, (1910-1943), born in Belgium in the heart of a gypsy family and was the first European jazz musician of universal acceptance, and also the largest so far.
