NO LOGIC CAN SAVE THE POEM

Oops, missed that poem---
It swam past in a glass of wine
I didn't drink
Poinsettas danced in my eyes instead
doorbells rang
children's faces filled with
pure white lights on Christmas trees
swift moving trays carried little pieces of raw fish
The poem is still lost
Lost in a thought smudged by my failure
Can't speak to that man whose clenched jaw
feels like the edge of a mountain
The poem is gone
The jazz isn't loud enough
The riff is concealed
My hat falls off the chair
No logic here saves me
No logic can save the poem
