This is a follow-up to a video I posted 4 years ago called "Fast Linux shell commands intro". That was 47 seconds, this one is 6 minutes.

The commands and subjects covered (quickly) are:

"cd"

"head [filename]"

the .bashrc configuration file

"locate [filename]"

"man [command]"

"locate -r [regular expression]"

"less"

the pipe character

"grep [pattern]"

greater-than sign for channeling output

"sudo fdisk -l"

"lspci"
"lsusb"
"sudo lpinfo -v"

How was this video made?

I recorded this using gtk-recordMyDesktop. This produced an .ogv file, which is not recognized by youtube. I coverted the .otv (theora) file to an .avi file with ffmpeg using the command-line arguments:

ffmpeg -i bash_commands.ogv bash_commands.avi
