Dave and I started bouncing around ideas for a retractable hail guard set up for my driver and passenger side glass back in the spring of 2008, but we couldn't settle on a good design. We knew it had to be retractable, and not "fixed" like my other hail guards. Two main reasons for this...one, it would be nice on the down days to be able to roll down the windows and get a nice breeze going, and two...it would also be nice to be able to chat with fellow chasers and friends from inside my vehicle, without having to look and talk through a sheet of Lexan.

Everything came together on Thanksgiving Day while Dave was driving home from his parents house. He emailed me later that night with the design he came up with in his head on the drive home and it was awesome!! Big time Kudos to him on that one. Over the course of the winter we gathered the necessary materials that we needed for the build, and in March 2009, we got started! On March 22nd I met Dave up in Larchmont, NY at his parents house and we got started on phase one of the build. That's where the video starts off at.
